TRUMP IMPORT TAXES

Have I written about ugly surprises before?  Yes, I have, and just got another.  In addition to the 5.5% import tariff on importing TrustyTrunks leakproof swim diapers from China, I was assessed an additional 25% surplus tax. Part of President Trump's trade war with China.  This was not fun news.  I've heard stories of China stealing intellectual property and penalizing their citizens for buying American products, so while I don't like getting into political debates, and TrustyTrunks were certainly adversely affected by this policy, I cannot honestly rail against the motivation behind the additional tariffs.  I'm just lamenting my terrible timing.  I'm writing this in January, 2020.  If you have been following along, you'll know that problems with the molds set...

NAMING THE TRUSTYTRUNKS

It took me a good six months to settle on the name, TrustyTrunks. I solicited ideas from all my friends and family. Luckily they obliged.  Some of my favorites, though not quite appropriate were: Soggy Bottom, Kid Nappies and Tidy Dips. I can't say there was any particular criteria, other than using a name that wasn't already taken, like TidyTrunks, which is an organizer for the trunk of your car. Also, it had to be rather gender neutral. Mostly, it just had to sound right, and not to just me. I tested numerous names, including Tidy Widy, which received resounding rejection. WATER SAFETY

At TrustyTrunks, we’re all about having fun during a day at the beach or the pool!  We’re also all about water safety for your toddler. TrustyTrunks help keep water safe by preventing infant-prone accidents from contaminating the water, but overall water safety is a group activity!  Water survival skills and effective supervision reduce drowning risk for children ages 1-4 years old. The following are some key reminders from www.healthychildren.org to ensure water safety for activities in, on and near the water:  Ensure constant, close attention on your toddler while in or near the water.
